Fountain of Youth

There are few things in life that are certain; most notably is that, yes, we are all getting older with each and every day. For centuries and centuries we, collectively as humans, have tried anything from mud to special leaves only found at the top of mountains. But, what really keeps us young? Is it love? Naïvety? Curiosity?

In 23 years, just like everyone else, I’ve asked myself the same question. For those of you who haven’t traveled, explored, been on an adventure that makes you nervous, excited, or even a little bit scared, those are the things that keep us young. It makes us feel alive.

I don’t mean just traveling though. Curiosity to learn something new can be explored through reading, writing, watching, tasting, and smelling. Don’t take for granted your senses that every single day that, without hesitation, get you by.

For myself, however, curiosity and wonder have always kept me feeling refreshed and youthful. It has been the sole reason for me to push myself to experience things I’ve never experienced before and is a constant reminder for me to continue to follow what my heart is telling me to do. Have you ever had that feeling? For some, it may be getting your Masters Degree, starting a family, or going for that awesome job, or telling someone you love them for the first time.  Mine is exploring and asking questions about big and small things everyday.

In my circle of close friends and family I’m known for questions that begin like:

  • Have you ever wondered…
  • Do you know why…
  • Why is…
  • How come….

I’m grateful that my brain sometimes doesn’t shut off and that it continues to wonder about crazy things and why the world is the way it is. How small we are compared to the larger scale of things. It keeps life in prospective. You only have one, so don’t waste it saying you’ll do something in the future when it’s right, or when you have time. Time is relative. It’s what you make of it. And from what we do know, it will always keep moving forward and we will continue to get older, so do things that keep you rejuvenated and excited about the next day.

Now, that doesn’t always mean I can be hopping across continents to make me feel young. But when I do travel, I find some pretty incredible products that keep the aging process at bay. This is the one I found in Vienna on our last day. It called Edel Weiss and it’s amazing.

It’s a serum for 25+, but I mean, getting a running start of two years will prevent a least a little wrinkles, right?
